FAQs
Why Veritas? What's Veritas?
Veritas Psychology Partners was chosen as the name of our psychology practice because Veritas, the Latin word for truth, represents our commitment to providing evidence-based, effective psychological services to our clients. Our “truth” is about understanding and clarity. We strive to partner with our clients to help them discover and live their own truth, whether it be through resolving emotional struggles, improving relationships, or achieving personal growth and development. Our team of licensed psychologists works collaboratively with our clients to provide personalized treatment and support throughout their journey. At Veritas Psychology Partners, we believe in empowering our clients to live their best lives through compassionate, non-judgmental, and authentic care. The goal is not extended, lifelong therapy, but rather a model that is episodic and focused on resolving the concerns of today.
Do you accept insurance? What are the benefits to working with a private pay therapist?
Veritas Psychology Partners (VPP) is a private pay therapy practice. We do not participate in any insurance network. We do not bill insurance companies, communicate with insurance companies, or accept payment from insurance companies. If you want to submit your bills to insurance, VPP will provide a “superbill” (see below for more information) which will make that process easier.
Choosing to work with VPP as private pay therapists offers several benefits to our clients:
Increased Flexibility and Choice: As private pay therapists, we have the freedom to tailor our sessions to meet your specific needs without the limitations imposed by insurance panels. This allows for more personalized and effective therapy, as we can focus on what matters most to you.
Expedited Access to Care: As a private pay client, you have the advantage of receiving services promptly without worrying about the lengthy approval process and administrative hassles imposed by insurance companies. This means you can start therapy sooner and receive the support you need without unnecessary delays.
Enhanced Privacy and Confidentiality: As private pay therapists, your privacy and confidentiality are prioritized. Since we do not have to involve insurance companies, your personal information remains securely within our therapeutic relationship. Insurance companies often limit coverage to services deemed "medically necessary," which can restrict the scope of your care. Additionally, utilizing insurance necessitates a mental health diagnosis being documented in your permanent health record. As private pay therapists, your sessions and progress stay between us.
Customized Treatment Approach: Without the constraints imposed by insurance requirements, we can explore a broader range of therapeutic modalities and techniques that best align with your unique goals and preferences. This flexibility allows for a more tailored and effective treatment experience.
Seamless Payment Process: Working with VPP as private pay therapists means you have a streamlined and hassle-free payment process. With a credit card on file, you don't need to worry about submitting claims or waiting for reimbursement. Payments are automatically processed, allowing you to focus solely on your therapeutic journey.
It's important to carefully consider what approach best suits your needs when deciding whether to work with VPP as private pay therapists or utilize insurance coverage. By weighing the benefits of personalized care, privacy, and streamlined payment against potential insurance restrictions, you can make an informed choice that aligns with your unique circumstances and goals.
What's a superbill, and do you offer one?
A superbill shows an itemized list of services that you have received from an out-of-network provider, like a therapist. This document will be required by an insurance company as you seek reimbursement for an out-of-network provider.
And, yes, we are happy to provide superbills.
What forms of payment do you accept?
To simplify the payment process, we require a credit card to be kept securely on file in Simple Practice (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) which will be automatically billed on the same day as your session. This ensures a seamless experience and allows us to focus on your therapy without the hassle of payment transactions.
Why telehealth? Isn't in-person treatment better?
We wholeheartedly believe and have experienced the profound impact of virtual therapy and the strength of human connection across distances. Online therapy is a highly effective and convenient form of therapy that delivers outcomes comparable to traditional in-person therapy. It also gives us the opportunity to work with individuals across the country--in any of the 41 (and growing) states that have signed the PsyPact agreement. Our busy clients appreciate that virtual sessions enable them to easily fit therapy into their hectic schedules while still receiving the support they need.
However, it's important to note that certain situations may not be suitable for online therapy and would be better served in-person.
Online therapy may not be suitable for individuals:
Currently experiencing or frequently facing crises and emergencies.
Requiring substantial safety and stabilization work.
Needing significant case management services or regular support beyond therapy sessions.
Facing a significant risk of self-harm or harm to others.
Individuals who prefer working face-to-face.
We are dedicated to ensuring your safety and well-being, and if your circumstances fall into these categories, we will work with you to explore alternative options that best meet your needs.
My state isn't a member of PSYPACT yet, when will they join?
As soon as your state's legislation is enacted, we'll be able to offer therapy there. The best way to ensure your state joins, is to contact your representatives and let them know it's a priority for you. The PSYPACT page has a list of states that have joined, are joining soon, or that have legislation pending. It's a great resource to stay abreast of what's happening, where and when.
What platform do you use for telehealth?
Sessions are completed using the HIPAA-compliant, secure SimplePractice telehealth platform.
What technology do I need to receive telepsychology?
Only a device (computer, tablet, or phone) with a camera and a reliable internet connection are required.
